What I Enjoy Writing About

Concerned about how space influences our relationships, specifically public space (urban design) and private space (residential architecture), I write mostly on the following topics:

My Business Philosophy

Given my past and disposition for intellectual, philosophical and spiritual conversation, I attract people of all sorts. However.

My Personal Life

Born in Redwood City, raised in San Carlos, schooled at St. Joseph’s in Atherton and Bellarmine in San Jose, and residing in Palo Alto, I’d say I’m a product of the Peninsula.

Before I talk about what I do, let me share with you where I’ve been. I lived in Los Angeles for six years while attending UCLA and working for Accenture (working exclusively with Amgen). In school I studied Computer Science and Philosophy. What can I say? I enjoy analytics (see my infatuation with Thomas Nagel). While in Los Angeles, I developed a love of architecture (Richard Neutra is one of my favorites; a great tour of Las homes), honed my taste for cinema (my favorite theater, my second favorite theater, my third favorite theater) and started traveling seriously.

Of all of my trips (such as New Year’s Eve in Rio de Janiro, summers in Brooklyn, Sundance in Park City, teaching English in Guangzhou), I’d say my favorite memories come from the Odyssey Trips with former roommate Cam. I won’t go into detail, but I will give you the parameters. We’d throw everything, and I mean everything, into my old Explorer: camping gear, skis, tennis rackets, climbing gear, scuba gear, mountain bikes and more. We jump in the car and say, “What do you feel like?” Whatever we chose, we did, whether it was biking near the Salton Sea or hopping a fishing boat in the Sea of Cortez. College was fun.

Between college and now, I worked for Accenture, amassed more travel stories, and took half a year off to write a personal manuscript (understanding what I value in this world). I recommend the latter.

So what do I do now? Well, you’ll find me one of four places:

  1. Either writing or making friends in cafes (read about my favorites: Borrones, Café del Dogge and Coupa)
  2. Enjoying life with my friends
  3. Surfing or climbing
  4. Coaching children

If you can’t tell already, I enjoy life. On one level, I am super privileged being born to loving parents in an area teaming with opportunity. I do get that (as best I can at least). So with that in mind, I share joy and celebrate life with everyone I meet.
